Fairlynch Arts Centre and Museum Devon hotels:

Situated in a unique thatched building close to the seafront, Fairlynch contains a wealth of material and archives relating to local history, nature, archaeology and geology relating to the heritage coast, with emphasis on the East Devon pebble beds. There are displays of Period costume. Lace and lace making. Major summer and winter exhibitions. The house, one of the few thatched museums, was built in the early 19th century in the cottage orné style. The builder was a local ship owner who added a turret so that he could watch for his ships coming into the bay. The garden has been restored to show many plants which would have been grown in the 19th century.
