The museum which is fully registered with the Museums and Galleries Commission, features the history of the port of Topsham including shipbuilding and ship owning, and the wildlife of the Exe Estuary. It incorporates a late 17thC house furnished in period. 2004 special exhibition is 'Fun and Games in Topsham': posters, postcards and images showing Victorian and early 20th Century life. Other interesting exhibits include wildlife of the Exe Estuary, local crafts, including lace, and memorabilia of Vivien Leigh, the film star.Three multimedia touch-screen computers provide interactive displays on themes including estuary birdlife, maritime history and domestic life in the late 17th century.
